A 15-time KAB and 2003 Oscar Stauffer Kansas Sportscaster of the Year award winner, Brian Smoller serves as the lead announcer for K-StateHD.TV programming including in-house broadcast productions of women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, and baseball for 3rd-tier outlet partners. He serves as the principal host for K-StateHD.TV shows and programming, including the Mike Dibbini(SOC), Suzie Fritz(VB), Jeff Mittie(WBB), and Pete Hughes(BSB) TV Shows. Smoller also serves as K-State’s radio play-by-play announcer for women’s basketball and baseball, as well as the host of the Jeff Mittie Radio Show. He is the principal liaison between the video department and outside entities; oversees the Emmy-award winning K-State Athletics video department staff and budget; coordinates on-air TV/radio talent and oversees video production for K-StateHD.TV-produced live events; and assists in the editing and production of departmental audio/video requests, including writing and narration of voiceovers and scripts.
An Emmy and Silver Telly award winning service, K-StateHD.TV is a high-definition digital network providing viewers more than 1,000 videos a year at no cost, including commercial free on-demand viewing of every football game and all home men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, volleyball, and baseball games within 72 hours of the event. Established in 2011, K-StateHD.TV teams Kansas State University staff and students with K-State Athletics’ staff to produce around 100 live events each year for Big 12 Conference distribution partners, notably Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
