Chandler Apple, an Atlanta native, fueled his passion for technology and live media during his educational journey at Mercer University. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering (2018) and a master’s degree in software engineering (2019). While at Mercer, Apple fell in love with live sports television through a campus run ESPN3 production program. As a student, he contributed to the first college-produced ESPN show in the country and continued working on live sporting broadcasts throughout his college career.
After graduating, Apple briefly explored the corporate world, working in DOD contract engineering for Northrop Grumman. However, the allure of the broadcasting industry drew him back. In July 2021, he joined Georgia State University as the lead broadcast/AV engineer. In this role, he oversees the technical aspects of live sports production and venue AV, ensuring seamless broadcasts for viewers.
One of Apple’s greatest achievements at Georgia State has been spearheading a student production program. Through this initiative, he has empowered Georgia State students to learn the ins and outs of live sports television. The Georgia State Production Network recently completed its first full year of student-involved productions and looks forward to many more years of success.
On most days you can find Apple in the GSU control room, or around campus teaching and guiding student workers towards their future careers in television.
