An innovative creator, Chanelle Smith-Walker serves as Tennessee football’s director of content. Smith-Walker manages the Volunteers’ social media strategy, branding, and content, and is responsible for the design and management of all recruiting social, digital, and print marketing materials. She runs the day-to-day operations of @Vol_Football social and also works closely with UT football student-athletes to help build their personal brands through social media platforms.
Smith-Walker, a native of Fayetteville, GA, is a pioneer in her field as the first Black woman lead creative in the Southeastern Conference. She most recently served as designer for the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship in Miami, executing social media content during the week.
Smith-Walker comes to Knoxville after serving as the director of creative media for NC State football from January, 2019 to January, 2021. She was in charge of the design and management of all recruiting, digital, and marketing content, and was the lead photographer for program events.
Prior to her time at NC State, the highly-accomplished Smith-Walker was the associate director of graphic design for Baylor football from February, 2018 to January, 2019. She produced social and recruiting content for all areas of the program, as well as internal content for the coaching and support staff.
Smith-Walker got her start in the creative field as a graduate assistant at Southern Miss in August, 2017. She took on the role of designing social and print content for all of the Golden Eagles’ sports and was elevated to director of digital marketing and creative services in January, 2017, a role she served for one year. Smith-Walker managed social media content for all sports accounts, including the @USMGoldenEagles main platform, while collaborating with the communications staff to create sport-specific plans. She was in charge of planning and organizing photo shoots for each respective sport, as well as assisting in the execution of football National Signing Day.
An accomplished volleyball student-athlete at Elon University, Smith-Walker graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications and a minor in digital art.
