Mason Flick joined the Northwestern Wildcats as director of creative production in August 2022. In this role, he oversees the creative video, photography, and graphic design units for Northwestern’s Athletic department.
Since joining the wildcats, Flick has re-energized the creative unit in Evanston. Hiring the department’s first full-time photographer, he is expanding the photography resources available to all 19 sports programs. In addition to photo, the videography side of Northwestern has also improved, nearly doubling the number of events covered in just one year.
A native of Jackson, MI, Flick graduated from Central Michigan University with both a bachelor’s degree in broadcast & cinematic arts and a master’s in electronic media production. While earning his masters, he oversaw over 30 broadcasting students and created a feature-length documentary on a high-school football team’s historic run of success.
Following his time at Central Michigan, Flick served as the senior producer at 12th Man Productions, the in-house production wing of Texas A&M University Athletics. During his six years in College Station, he was a producer for the Emmy award winning docuseries, The Pulse: Texas A&M Football. In addition to documentary-style content, Flick also served as a content creator for men’s basketball, swimming & diving, and pioneered a relationship with the primary fundraisers at Texas A&M, the 12th Man Foundation.
Flick now resides in Old Town Chicago where he spends a majority of his time eating pizza and exploring what the city of Chicago has to offer.
